Remembering Bill Wines

While researching our ALA history, I was reminded of stories I’d heard decades earlier about a legendary Illinois lawyer, Bill Wines. He was, I was told, a preeminent appellate lawyer and also notable for his sideline gig writing a TV program. Fortunately, I found enough information to write a short article. All the accolades were true.
Unfortunately, Bill died in his prime in 1964; the ALA was founded in 1968. Had he lived, he surely would have been an early member, and no doubt a valuable one. Here’s a link to the article.
